Tipping the Dealer

I go to casinos a lot and one of the things that disturbs me the most is when players do not tip the dealer. The dealer is there to assist you, and actually wants you to win.

Think about it, they are making the same amount of money whether you win or lose, but if you win you are likely to tip them better; therefore they are rooting for you.

I usually tip about ten percent of what I started betting with, this is what my dad taught me to do, but I was wondering what the norm is in the casino. I decided to look it up in a couple of different resources to find out the general consensus. I liked what I found at Yahoo answers the best.

One user started by saying it is best to tip in chips or tip by placing a bet for the dealer. You do this by placing your bet and if you win the dealer collects their part of the winnings at the end of the hand.

Now the important part: how much to tip. If you aren’t betting that much money, then $1 to $2 is customary. If you are playing at a table with a minimum of $50 or over then $5 per game is good.

Now you can tip if you lose, but no dealer actually expects it. But if you do experience a good run, even if you are down, it is only right to show your appreciation. The dealers are all working together, and a good tipper is always treated better at casinos than a lousy tipper. I hope this has helped out wherever you may have been confused about tipping the dealer, good luck!
